The Name of the Band

The first gig was set in the Cumbernauld theatre, the set was thrown together in weeks, consisting of 3 chord Rock 'n' Roll at its best. Hence the TED's.
The band were under no illusions of grandeur and were out to play Rock 'n' Roll the only way it could be played, FOR FUN!. The theatre bar was an excellent venue for a Party atmosphere and their first Gig (July 1985), Hence the PARTY!
The Big? That was no more than poetic license. (though some say it was to do with the size of our beer bellies. Big Ted's Party was thus named for the first gig only, but the name has stuck ever since, though they have tried to change it many times but to no avail

Big Ted's Party, First thought of the name " The Beatles" but concluded it wasn't catchy enough. The fifth "Ted's" finger can be seen at the edge of the camera lens

The History ( Literally ! )

The band in it's present line up started in 1985 after a change of drummer. It was on the Saturday night of February the 16th 1985 that the new drummer (Big Len) was to witness Big Ted's Party for the first time. Unbeknown to Len that within weeks he would be asked to audition for the very same band. 17 years later the band still boast the same line up. The band have went through various changes to their musical repertoire from the easy 3 chord Rock'n'Roll they started with, their own and popular songs from a Carmichael and MacKenzie partnership to of course their mutual love of the blues.
